With over 120 years of experience it remains one of the oldest and most renowned “house of trust” in Belgium.

Meet our founder and great-grandfather: J.F. Slaets
Meet J.F. Slaets, our founder and great-grandfather, who started a small workshop together with his wife in 1904. In his tiny atelier, somewhere in a quiet little village in Flanders, surrounded by nature, he quietly crafted, repaired and sold jewellery, clocks and pocket watches. In that period, clocks or pocket watches were the only tools to read the time at home or on the go. The wristwatch as we know it today was not even invented yet and only gained popularity much later.
Today, 4 generations later, the passion for quality and craftsmanship has never worn off. The tiny workshop made way for state-of-the-art retail destinations, the peaceful nature turned into buzzing shopping streets and the quiet little town was exchanged for the city of diamonds, Antwerp.

Jewellers who meet the label’s strict quality standards are awarded the title of Antwerp’s Most Brilliant jeweller for a period of two years.
SLAETS was the first jeweller to receive the Antwerp’s Most Brilliant label in 2014 and has proudly held the distinction continuously ever since.
How does a jeweller obtain the label?
To receive the Antwerp’s Most Brilliant label, a jeweller must meet a comprehensive set of strict quality requirements. Labelled jewellers distinguish themselves through their commitment to sustainability, security, integrity, transparency, service and business stability.
They must also fully comply with Belgian legislation in economic, social and fiscal matters. In short, Antwerp’s Most Brilliant jewellers are professionals who have demonstrated that they meet the highest standards of quality and trust. The label is awarded by the City of Antwerp and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre. It is also overseen by the professional federation for jewellers, Ars Nobilis, and the Federal Public Service Economy (FOD).
